This Week in the Stock Market
Nvidia reported earnings last week which resulted in Nvidia running up the day before as investors anticipated earnings. For those of you following me - you know this is one of my favorite companies and I still see a lot of potential in it! Tech stocks saw consolidation after significant gains earlier in the year, while sectors like financials and industrials are stepping up, creating a healthier balance in market leadership. The Nasdaq 100's relative performance vs. the S&P 500 has plateaued since July as you can see from the graph below.

Excitement is building around pro-growth policies from the new administration, but hefty proposed tariffs—60% on Chinese imports and 10% on all others—are raising inflation fears. With imports making up 11% of GDP, higher prices could hit consumers like a hidden tax, slowing growth. We’ve seen this before: tariff tensions rattled markets in 2018, while a trade truce fueled a 2019 rally. Investors are now watching closely for any signs of inflation heating up again. This may end up making cost of goods higher for certain businesses who then pass the cost on to the end consumer, making things more expensive. We will have to wait and see.

The Rise of Federated Learning in Finance
In the rapidly evolving world of fintech, protecting client data while enhancing predictive models can seem like a daunting task. Enter Federated Learning (FL), a revolutionary machine learning framework that trains an algorithm across multiple decentralized devices or servers without exchanging data samples. This means sensitive financial information never leaves the client's device, ensuring privacy and compliance with stringent data protection laws.
Federated Learning is not just about security; it’s also about harnessing the collective power of diverse datasets without compromising on privacy. Financial institutions leverage FL to improve fraud detection systems and personalize banking services, all while upholding the highest standards of data confidentiality.
